It’s My Right

‘I don’t wear hijab because I fear that I might not be able to continue it’ is an excuse given by many sisters. Would it be acceptable if someone said, ‘I don’t eat at all because I fear that I might not be able to digest the food’? No, because one knows that food is something one can’t do without.

The commands mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah are obligatory upon a believer to follow. These are called faraid in shariah. Failure in adherence to faraid makes one eligible for punishment and following the faraid is a majorly rewardable act.

Observing proper and full-time hijab for the sake of pleasing Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) is as if a woman is in a state of worship from the time she wears it till she removes it, subhanAllah.

Who can love us more? Who can care for us more? He (subhanahu wa ta’ala) is not only safeguarding us from being a mere ‘feast for the eyes’ but is also rewarding us for performing deeds that are beneficial for us, Allah u Akbar. How easy has He made it for us to earn free reward points but we have a heart to reject and toss away His love, by choosing to be ibaadud dunia (slave of the world), instead of being ibaadur Rahman(slave of the most Merciful) and they call it liberation, huh. What a mockery!

Rise and break the shackles of these trends. You’re not a piece of meat on a platter. Let them know that you are an individual. Let them respect you for your deen, for your values, for your intelligence and for your confidence in following your Creator and His Beloved (salalahu alaihi wasallam). It’s your right to choose the best and your best is determined by the One who wishes the best for you.

If you feel a prick within, after pondering the thought of starting hijab then don’t let it fade away in the depths of your heart. Don’t let it die down, because this it that khair that Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) has instilled within you to bring you closer to Him. Don’t let Shaitan, your nafs or anyone in this dunia take this khair away from you again. The time for action is now, bi izn Allah.
And remember that your Rabb is just a dua’a away.
