Are we satisfied with our worship and obedience towards Allah? Let’s analyse ourselves honestly. If yes, we are satisfied, then we need to redefine our goals to reach higher peaks. If no, then we need to strive harder.
To elevate ourselves from being the people of ‘at least’ to people of ‘utmost’, we need to reconstruct our ideas about life as a temporary phase and to understand the enormity and permanence of the Hereafter. Then, we need to believe with conviction in the reality of the unseen and to plan, prepare and strive in its direction by clinging to the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah, along with those who share the same goals and aspirations as us. Only then can it be expected that those of us who strive to improve their level of iman (faith) and ‘amal (practice) will be honoured in The Hereafter, bi izn Allah.
There is no doubt that those who enter Jannah will enter it because of Allah’s (subhanahu wa ta’aala) mercy but it will be their deeds that will make them eligible for being the recipients of His Mercy. To be among the fortunate ones we must pray, strive and hope to acquire eternal bliss, inshaAllah, by being people of ‘utmost’ not people of ‘at least’.
‘But you prefer the worldly life, while the Hereafter is better and more enduring.’ (87:16-17)
Yet another sign, another respite, another reminder,
To seek forgiveness and submit to the Master.
A moment of fear and then delusion,
Is my heart corrupted or has it hardened?
I give in to my desires and to Iblis,
How could I agree to let go of You, with ease?
You pulled me out of utter darkness,
Showed me true light in the midst of fake brightness.

It’s the time of year again, that lovebirds have been waiting for, the most awaited day of the year, February 14th!
Elaborately made up, beautifully adorned girls flutter around like bright butterflies hoping to find the most sought after guy, to be presented with gifts. A little heart or even a red rose would do, as long as it qualifies them to be paired up with someone.
On the other hand, guys dressed in their carefully chosen casual outfits, drenched in the most masculine cologne (a smell that could bruise your veins from within) seem busy shortlisting the most appropriate match for them, seeking to propose to the girl of their dreams. Finally, it is the day of enacting their well rehearsed scenarios with her.
Oh yes, it’s Valentine’s Day again!

Sincerity (Ikhlas), hard work and perseverance are the keys to success. Instead of lowering your standards, increase your (tawakkal) reliance on Allah. Believe with conviction that He will surely put barakah in work done purely for His sake. And if at any point you feel the need to modify your goals then realise that the problem lies with your recognition of your Rubb’s supremacy and power, not in your plan. So instead of having a change of plan, try having a change of heart.
Then We said to the angels, “Prostrate to Adam”; so they prostrated, except for Iblis. He was not of those who prostrated. [Allah] said, “What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?” [Satan] said, “I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay.”[Allah] said, “Descend from Paradise, for it is not for you to be arrogant therein. So get out; indeed, you are of the debased. [Satan] said, “Reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected.” [Allah] said, “Indeed, you are of those reprieved.” [Satan] said, “Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path. Surah Al Araaf-22
We know that Iblis, due to his exceptional worship was elevated to the high status of being with the angels. He had the ma’arifa(recognition) of his Creator. Despite that when Allah(subhanahu wa ta’alaa)commanded him to prostrate to Adam (alaihi salaam) he refused. What was his sin? It was his disobedience and rejection of Allah’s(subhanahu wa ta’alaa) command by not prostrating to Adam, whether or not his intelligence justified it.

That person around whom your life revolves now, was once the centre of focus for someone else. Their mutual love and attachment grew with time until her happiness depended on his mere presence.
Eventually his focus gradually shifted away from her to what he considered to be more significant and you were a part of that choice. It was then when his mother gracefully let him move on, without making him conscious of the vacuum that he was leaving within her.
She allowed to be yours what was hers. Her rainbow became a reason for your joy.
Now, when her life is dull and colourless wouldn’t you rather share your hues with her?
Our relationship with our in laws can never improve, unless we learn to love them for the sake of Allah. This change in perspective will not only be a means of our salvation in the afterlife but will liberate and unburden us from the negativity that tends to pollute our hearts in such relationships.
Wise are those who set their egos aside and reach out to people without expecting anything in return, not even a smile. Why? Because they understand the core cause of heartbreak and eventually learn to direct all their expectations to their Rabb, for one can only expect khair from the true source of khair
